Thirteenth Illinois Infantry Regiment Diary
This collection consists of a diary and a partial hand-written transcription of the diary concerning the Officer's time in Arkansas.
Entries in the diary are fairly brief usually stating location, weather conditions, the well being of the Officer and his soldiers, and whether the chaplain was preaching or not. Much of what is written concerns the Officer's time spent fighting and marching in Arkansas (Batesville, Jacksonport, and Helena areas).
Towell Family Papers
The collection includes letters primarily written by members of the Towell family, Samuel Towell's certificate of registry for land in Clarksville, Arkansas, and one photograph (tintype). The letters pertain to early Arkansas, the Civil War, and the California Gold Rush. The tintype is of Nancy Atkins Towell, wife of Samuel Towell. Samuel and Nancy Towell had three sons: John H., William, and Isaac.

Ward, Assistant Commissary of Subsistence, in provisioning Confederate troops in the vicinity of Yellville and Lewisville, Arkansas during the months of October 1862 and August 1864.

Account of his experiences in Arkansas near DeValls Bluff and Helena, where he served as a supply clerk, and his return to Grand Rapids, Michigan. Other pages contain records of expenses and other financial information, especially a page where expenses are recorded relating to the return home of Wilson and Bill.
