Scope and Content Note

The collection consists of correspondence, photographs, property records, newspaper clippings, and other materials pertaining to Judge David Walker and the Walker family. Included are materials related to the service of David Walker and other family members in the Confederate Army during the U. S. Civil War, as well as materials related to David Walker's judicial and legal career, and to Senator James David Walker's legal and political career.

Scope and Contents

The collection consists of materials pertaining to the Johnson family of Washington County, Arkansas, and to family homes (particularly the Johnson House in Johnson, Ark.) and a family business (the Johnson Mill), as well as to Johnson Baptist Church and to local politics and elections. Materials include photographs, business records, property records, autograph books, correspondence, and clippings.

Content Description

The collection contains genealogical research, correspondence, photographs, property records, and other materials related to the Divelbiss and Reel families. The materials follow the ancestry of Maude Divelbiss Reel and her husband, Blanchard Frank Reel. Many materials relate to family members who lived in Washington County, Arkansas, and particularly in Elkins, Arkansas.

Scope and Content Note Series 1 contains 33 items of correspondence. Twenty of the 24 letters dated 1857-1898 are to James Albert Buchanan, and pertain to land, familial, and other affairs of the Buchanan family of Washington County, Ark., especially to the role of County Surveyor J. A. Buchanan in work performed 1880-1881 for railroads under construction in the vicinity.
