Scrapbook pages containing 1896 Arkansas Industrial University (now the University of Arkansas) graduation program, senior class song (written by Ida G. Barr), views of Fayetteville and U of A campus, newspaper clippings. Photograph (7½ x 9 3/4" mounted on card) is of Old Main from the north, dated on reverse 1904-1906.

The Byroade collection is arranged in four series and consists of correspondence, newspaper clippings, slave bills of sale, Civil War papers, wedding and funeral memorabilia, school records, photographs, and business, financial, legal, and political papers.

This collection contains correspondence, addresses and speeches, essays, scrapbook, and other materials created or received by Futrall, President of the University of Arkansas from 1913 to 1939; by his father, Thomas Andrew Futrall, 1842-1917; and by other persons; pertaining to personal and familial interests and concerns of the Futrall family, and to the academic and professional careers of John Futrall and Thomas Futrall.

Material pertaining to the life of William J. Hamilton, Arkansas student, teacher, lawyer, and merchant, especially to his years as a student at Arkansas Industrial University, 1889-1894. The memoirs also relate, in part, to the history of Hartford, Arkansas, to Hamilton's daughter, Nell Lucille Hamilton Trotter, and to other members of the Hamilton-Gryder-York-Dean-Trotter families.

Autograph album inscribed "A.I.U." with signature of John J. Hughes. Verses and writings signed by fellow students commemorate their schooldays together. Photographs of unidentified classmates and a photograph of Old Main.

"Day book" and diary of University of Arkansas student. Contents: record of moneys received and expended, pp. [1-2], 5-12, 21-40, 43-56; blank pages, pp. 69-71; index entry, p. 72; diary, March 25, 1891 ... March 6, 1894, pp. 73-78, 83-98, 101-130, 141-156, 163-180. 1 volume (13" x 8" x 1").

The collection consists of one item, a letter written by James Mitchell on November 27, 1874. It is written by hand on a folded sheet of stationery bearing a lithograph in green depicting University Hall, the building housing the Arkansas Industrial University. In the letter Mitchell addresses David Walker, a prominent judge, asking Walker to use his influence with the Arkansas General Assembly to obtain a sufficient appropriation to operate the new University.

Autograph book with signed personal inscriptions collected by Ida Pace from Jan. 4, 1884, to May 15, 1886, from approximately 62 persons, 46 of whom were Arkansas Industrial University students.

This collection contains Julia Rutherford's ledger with songs, purchase records, and lists of church members, two autograph books from AIU, a commencement invitation, and two photographs.

Autograph letter signed, dated Roseville (Logan County), Arkansas, December 4, 1878, from Sewell to D. H. Hill, president of Arkansas Industrial University, regarding conduct and health of writer's children, students John M. Sewell and Pink Sewell.

Positive photocopies of letters were donated to Special Collections by James T. Smith, M. D., Paris, Arkansas, 8 July 1986. The original letters are owned by the donor of the photocopies.

The material consists of seven letters written by Arthur M. Smith, from Arkansas Industrial University, Fayetteville, Arkansas, to his mother, Mrs. M. J. Smith.

Two report cards of Miss Annie Tillman from Arkansas Industrial University, December 1, 1884-October 9, 1885. Reports list courses taken, grades, absences, and number of demerits. They are signed by George M. Edgar, President, Ruth Johnson, Acting Secretary (1884), and George D. Purinton, Secretary (1885).
