Scope and Content Note

The collection includes letters primarily written by members of the Towell family, Samuel Towell's certificate of registry for land in Clarksville, Arkansas, and one photograph (tintype). The letters pertain to early Arkansas, the Civil War, and the California Gold Rush. The tintype is of Nancy Atkins Towell, wife of Samuel Towell. Samuel and Nancy Towell had three sons: John H., William, and Isaac.

Scope and Content Note Positive photocopies of family papers of the Carl F. Lucky family were donated to Special Collections by Mrs. Carl Lucky, Sr. (Virginia Wells Lucky), Mrs. Carl Lucky, Jr, (Jane Sanders Lucky), and Mr. Carl Lucky, Jr., of McGehee, Arkansas, 15 November 1985. The original papers are owned by the donors of the photocopies. Most of the material originated with Lucinda G. Barvin of Georgia and was passed on to her daughter, Thereza Jane Garvin, who married the Reverend R. W....
