Positive photocopies of family papers of the Carl F. Lucky family were donated to Special Collections by Mrs. Carl Lucky, Sr. (Virginia Wells Lucky), Mrs. Carl Lucky, Jr, (Jane Sanders Lucky), and Mr. Carl Lucky, Jr., of McGehee, Arkansas, 15 November 1985. The original papers are owned by the donors of the photocopies.

Most of the material originated with Lucinda G. Barvin of Georgia and was passed on to her daughter, Thereza Jane Garvin, who married the Reverend R. W. Goudelock. Then the material, together with several items concerning R. W. Goudelock, was passed on to their daughter, Roxie Goudelock, who married Eugene Theodore Lucky of Eureka Springs (later Monticello, Arkansas). Roxie and Eugene Lucky were the parents of Carl Lucky, Sr.

The material consists of seven letters to Lucinda B. Garvin, Newbridge P. O., Lumpkin County, Georgia, from her husband, David Garvin, and from her brother, Leonidas L. Reid, who went to California during the Gold Rush. The remaining three items concern the Reverend R. W. Goudelock.
