Included in this series are photographs pertaining to Smith's family, the WPA, the Capitol Press Club, and other subjects. Also included are one broadside and two drawings. Photograph size is listed height first. Photographs are black and white unless noted. Most are arranged chronologically with undated photographs last. The "Portraits of Others," however, are arranged alphabetically.

Twenty postcard photographs of people and places in and near Rosboro (Pike County). The Bardwell photographs were taken by B. Bardwell and his nephew Carney Bardwell, Rosboro, Arkansas, from about 1910 to 1926. The photographs are all 3 1/4" x 5 1/4" and are printed on the verso for use as postcards. Descriptive material was included for most of the photographs, and is incorporated into the description of each photograph.

Photographs of the Davis family, friends, and business associates. Only the first 17 photographs and the oversize images listed are original prints and have been described with sizes. The balance are copies of originals held by the Old State House museum, Little Rock, Arkansas, and have only been described by image. Oversize photographs have been placed with other Davis oversize materials in box 14.

Late nineteenth century photographs are of the Fayetteville square and various locations in Eureka Springs. Other photographs include Call, Bonnie Lela Crump, members of the Ozark Writers and Artists Guild, and the Ozarks. Many of the post cards have messages or photographic images of scenes in Arkansas. The drawings and paintings are by A.H. Odell, Bonnie Lela Crump, Frank E. Wetherell, and unidentified artists.

The material was collected by Paul Haynie in the course of his research on the history of the Churches of Christ in Arkansas. Included are photocopies of church records; programs, directories, and other church publications; histories of the churches compiled by members; genealogies; and photographs.

The series contains the scrapbook and papers of Sophia Purkins Williams. The scrapbook contains report cards, birthday cards, clippings, condolences on the death of her husband, and family memorabilia. Grammar School and High School diplomas as well as a handmade music book of Sophia Purkins Williams are included. Additional family papers include a wedding book, a travel journal about Japan after World War I, and a compilation of Purkins genealogy

Post cards include scenes from Arkansas communities with and without messages that were sent to or collected by Lilly Little Swift while living in Arkansas and Kansas.

The papers consist mostly of banding returns and Purple Finch studies. They also include several photographs and an extensive card file documenting bird sightings from 1948 to 1972. Photographs 1-4 are of Ruth Thomas, c. 1920-1960. Photograph 5 is of a Ruth Thomas book signing. Photographs 6-15 are of Ruth Thomas and various birds taken at her home in Morrilton, Arkansas, in 1970. The card file has been preserved in its original arrangement.

Primarily formal studio portraits of Martin family members and their friends. Photographs 13-20 in Folder 12 are members of the Prigmore and Elliott families. Photographs 35-40 in Folder 15 are of the Benjamin Wilson Martin home in Warren, Arkansas, and three identified portraits of persons unrelated to the Martins. Photographs 41-55 in Folder 16 are unidentified.

Many of the photographs were taken by professional photographers, apparently for publication in Arkansas Alumnus. Others are snapshots. Any captions on the verso of prints are enclosed in quotation marks in the picture descriptions that follow. All measurements of the prints are in inches, height given first.
