Biographical / Historical

The Washington County Education Association was a professional organization for public school educators and supporters in Washington County, Arkansas. According to its bylaws, the organization was established “[t]o promote attitudes of harmony and cooperation among all the agencies of public education,” to support teachers’ professional development and networking, and “[t]o promote unity in seeking to attain the ultimate object of public education – equal, adequate, and improved opportunities for every child.”

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The Washington County Education Association Records were donated to Special Collections by Anthony J. Wappel, Washington County Archivist, on behalf of the Washington County Courthouse on August 14, 2008.

Processing Information

Preliminary processing, including arrangement and rehousing, was conducted by Special Collections staff circa 2008. Processing was completed, and finding aid created, by Katrina Windon in December 2022.
