Content Description

This collection consists of scans of photographs that depict Tyson and fellow University of Arkansas students on campus, at the Confederate Cemetary, and a First Baptist Church in Fayetteville. Also included is a unique photo of a dining room in the basement of Hill Hall where Tyson worked as a waiter.

Biographical / Historical

John Ardis Tyson (1883-1962) was born in Pope, Arkansas to John Marshall Tyson and Elizabeth Catherine Boyd. He attended the University of Arkansas from 1908 to circa 1910. It is unclear if he ever graduated. In 1911, he married Ila Jane Matthews. He died in 1962 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
