Biographical / Historical

The Northwest Arkansas Schoolmasters Club was a professional organization for male school teachers and administrators in Northwest Arkansas, as well as for male faculty in the College of Education at the University of Arkansas and John Brown University. Its constitution declared its purpose included “discuss[ing] means for securing a united front in the defense of an adequate program of free public education in Arkansas.” The organization began in 1920 as the Washington County Schoolmasters' Club, and later expanded.

The Northwest Arkansas Schoolmasters Club Records were transferred to Special Collections by Anthony J. Wappel, Washington County Archivist, on behalf of the Washington County Archives on August 14, 2008.
