The collection consists of six ledgers containing minutes, attendance lists, and other records of the Washington County Teachers Institute from 1909-1920. Also included are photocopies of earlier Institute records that are held by the Washington County Archives.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
The Washington County Teachers Institute Records were transferred to Special Collections by Anthony J. Wappel, Washington County Archivist, on behalf of the Washington County Archives on August 14, 2008. The records were originally donated to the Washington County Archives by the Washington County School Board.
Existence and Location of Originals
The original copies of the materials represented by photocopies in Folder 1 may be found in the Washington County Archives in the 1905-1907 poll tax book.
Processing Information
Preliminary processing, including arrangement and rehousing, was completed by Special Collections staff circa 2008. Processing completed and finding aid created by Katrina Windon in December 2022.
