Biographical / Historical
The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International is a professional organization of women educators, and was established in 1929 at the University of Texas at Austin.
The Eta Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society Kappa State Organization was established in Fort Smith, Arkansas in 1940, with Minnie Pahotski serving as its first president. At its annual picnic in 1957, the Eta Chapter decided to split into two groups; half of the members stayed with the Eta Chapter, while the other half began the Alpha Pi Chapter. Dorothy Cheek served as the first president of the Alpha Pi Chapter.
