Biographical / Historical

Anne E. McClaran (1919-2008) was an Arkansas teacher and prison reform advocate who was active in local community organizations and politics, including serving several terms on the Jefferson County Board of Election Commissioners.

She was born June 22, 1919, and grew up in Indiana, where she graduated from Hanover College in 1941. In 1942, she married O. B. McClaran.
