Content Description
Personal and professional papers of John Harrison Newman, who was involved in Northwest Arkansas communes and food cooperatives, including the Ozark Cooperative Warehouse, and established a consulting business to turn around failing companies. Collection materials include photographs; school papers; correspondence, particularly between Newman and his parents; journals; and newspaper articles. Photograph locations include Fayetteville, Arkansas, and the Sassafras commune in Newton County, Arkansas.

Biographical / Historical
John Harrison Newman (1948-2011) was an accountant and business consultant.
Newman was born October 11, 1948, in New York City, New York. He earned a degree in accounting from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, in 1979. He worked with the Ozark Food Co-operative, the Ozark Co-operative Warehouse, and several accounting firms before founding his own consulting business to turn around failing companies.

Arrangement
Materials are arranged by topic and by format. Digital files in Digital Folders 1-4 were migrated from a CD, and have been arranged by topic and in some cases renamed with more descriptive file titles in order to facilitate access.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
The John Harrison Newman Papers were donated to Special Collections by Newman's widow, Darla Newman of Fayetteville, Arkansas, on December 11, 2019.
Additional materials (Box 3) were donated by Lynda Karsen on behalf of the estate of Darla Newman in July 2022.
