Biographical Note

Clinton Hale Tebbetts was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas on January 30, 1848. He graduated from West Point having been trained as a civil engineer. Tebbetts became superintendent and commandant of Culver Military Academy in 1895 then moved on to Pittsburgh in 1898 to work in manufacturing and then as an iron and steel inspector for the American Bridge Company. In 1907, after a period of poor health, he became an inspector of Purchases for the U. S. Army at the Pittsburgh Storage and Supply Depot. Tebbetts passed away on February 15, 1920.
