Biographical Note
The Philomathic Club was informally organized in January of 1888 in Helena (Phillips County), by Maude Sanders and Margaret Redford. The club name was changed in the fall of 1892 to Pacaha Club, to honor the name of an Indian village which formerly occupied the site of Helena.
