Content pertains to Fulbright's childhood and education, to his studies at Oxford University, to his years at the University of Arkansas, to the Fulbright Act, and to his congressional career.

Biographical Note

J. William Fulbright (1905-1995) was a president of the University of Arkansas (1939-1941), a U.S. Representative (1943-1945), a U.S. Senator (1945-1974), the longest-serving chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee (1959-1975), a champion of the establishment of international exchange programs, and author of numerous books and articles, including The Arrogance of Power (1966).
