Page to his mother and to his sister, Maria, while Page was serving in the Union Army (first with the Long Island 3rd Detachment, Company B, and later with the 7th Massachusetts Battery, in the corps of Captain Newman W. Storer) from 1863-1865 during the U.S. Civil War. This collection consists of a diary and a partial hand-written transcription of the diary concerning the Officer's time in Arkansas.

Entries in the diary are fairly brief usually stating location, weather conditions, the well being of the Officer and his soldiers, and whether the chaplain was preaching or not. Much of what is written concerns the Officer's time spent fighting and marching in Arkansas (Batesville, Jacksonport, and Helena areas).
