The material has been divided into four series: Collection of literature on arachnids, research and teaching papers (including reprints, typescripts, notes, and correspondence), personal papers, and pictures (mostly photographs of arachnids and birds).

Content Description The collection consists of photographic slides of birds, primarily taken by Arkansas birder Max Parker. Most slides are labeled with bird species, location, and date. Locations are from across North and Central America, but with a focus on Arkansas and the United States. Two slides are of images taken by others: Box 2, Folder 14, Image 109 is by Charles Mills, and Box 3, Folder 16, Image 81 was published by the Big Bend Natural History Association. Scope and Content Note

The papers consist mostly of banding returns and Purple Finch studies. They also include several photographs and an extensive card file documenting bird sightings from 1948 to 1972. Photographs 1-4 are of Ruth Thomas, c. 1920-1960. Photograph 5 is of a Ruth Thomas book signing. Photographs 6-15 are of Ruth Thomas and various birds taken at her home in Morrilton, Arkansas, in 1970. The card file has been preserved in its original arrangement.
