Scope and Content Note Francis Irby Gwaltney’s papers most strongly reflect his literary career and include manuscripts of published and unpublished novels, short stories, sketches, and plays for screen, television and stage. Gwaltney’s correspondence with his literary agents, editors, publishers and friends, such as Norman Mailer, trace his literary career from 1947 to 1980.
