The records pertain to the creation, organization, and functioning of the Council, and to the activities and interests of its officers, directors, staff, membership, supporters and opponents in regard to race relations in Arkansas. They include office files and sound recordings.

Scope and Content Note The collection consists of Gordon's materials from the Arkansas Conference on Human Relations (founded in 1954), a descendant of the Southern Regional Council of Atlanta, founded a decade earlier.
