The collection, created by Horace Paul Bryan, consists of photocopies of various newspaper and magazine articles written by Bryan and/or about agriculture, coal mining, sea life, labor, and local history.

Scope and Content Note The papers pertain to coal mining activities in the Hartford and Excelsior areas of Sebastian County, Arkansas, between the 1910's and the 1950's. Records in boxes 1-4 contain business records. The business is not identified, but is presumed to be that of the Boyd Excelsior Fuel Company or its descendant.
