Towell Family Papers
The collection includes letters primarily written by members of the Towell family, Samuel Towell's certificate of registry for land in Clarksville, Arkansas, and one photograph (tintype). The letters pertain to early Arkansas, the Civil War, and the California Gold Rush. The tintype is of Nancy Atkins Towell, wife of Samuel Towell. Samuel and Nancy Towell had three sons: John H., William, and Isaac.
Haney Family Papers
The Haney family papers have been arranged chronologically in four series: correspondence, financial documents, legal documents, and miscellaneous papers, which include drawings of Samuel and Margaret Haney, the Haney homestead, and a courting poem, circa 1850s.
Gray Family Materials
Johnson Family Papers
The collection consists of correspondence, legal documents, genealogical research, and other materials pertaining to the Johnson, Franklin, and Lightfoot families. Many family members lived in Arkansas throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.
Notable among the materials is an affidavit from Mary M. Lightfoot and M. L. Royston regarding their experience with an alleged theft of cotton by Union troops during the Civil War.
