Women's Library Collection

Scope and Content Note The collection consists primarily of vertical files and periodicals. Most of the vertical files are on general subjects concerning women. Files were also kept on local and regional feminist or lesbian activities. The Women's Library did not subscribe to any journals, so the periodicals consist of titles received as gifts or exchanges, and are by no means complete. A few books and other materials (posters, catalogues, notices of women's conferences, etc.) are also included.

Retha Wood Oral History Interview

Scope and Content Note The collection consists of an oral history interview, on audio cassette tape, conducted by Randall Leo Hudson of Retha Wood on April 15, 1993, about Wood's experience growing up during the Great Depression in rural Le Flore County, Oklahoma. She discusses her family life, agricultural and food practices, her school, illnesses and diseases, and home remedies. Also included is a photocopy of notes by Wood related to her discussions in the interview.

World War I Collected Material

Scope and Content Note Contains 15 folders of World War I posters, booklets, leaflets, postcards, military induction forms, and periodicals. The material particularly concerns the U. S. Treasury Department's campaign to promote the sale of Government Savings Bonds and Thrift Stamps.

Box 2 contains an additional 17 duplicate copies of 13 posters originally found in Folders 1-5.

World War II Prisoner of War Records

R. F. Yager Letters

Scope and Content Note Letters from Captain R. F. Yager, Shelby's Brigade, Missouri Volunteers, February 29 and March 19, 1864, from Camden (Ouachita County), to his wife, Mattie. Although Yager wrote home just prior to the Camden Expedition undertaken by Union troops from Little Rock (Pulaski County), his letters do not describe any encounters with the enemy in detail.
