Biographical Note
John N. Hutchison (1911-2003) was the editor of the Arkansas Traveler 1936-1937. As editor he had two noteworthy accomplishments: he wrote extensively about the necessity to abolish commencement, and he appointed Joe T. Robinson, Arkansas senator, a Washington stringer for the student newspaper. Both events were picked up by the national press. He graduated with a BA in journalism from the School of Agriculture in 1937 and subsequently pursued an extensive career as a correspondent and with the United States Information Agency. John N. Hutchison died in 2003 in Sebastopol, California.
Information about Mr. Hutchison's later career can be found at the Foreign Affairs Oral History Program, Georgetown University, Washington, D.C. and the Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training.
