Scope and Content Note
Copy photographic prints of originals in the Museum of the Gulf Coast, Port Arthur, Texas. The photographs, mostly taken by DeGoeijen during visits along the KCS line in 1897 and 1927 include railroad engines, depots, bridges, and street scenes in Mena (Polk County) and DeQueen (Sevier County), Arkansas, and Beaumont and Port Arthur, Texas. Photographic prints.

Biographical Note
Jan de Goeijen was born in Zwolle, Netherlands in 1861. He owned tea plantations in the Dutch East Indies and achieved great success as a coffee trader. De Goeijen helped finance the Kansas City, Pittsburg and Gulf Railroad (later part of the Kansas City Southern Railway Company.) DeQueen, Arkansas is named in his honor.

The DeGoeijen Scrapbook Photographs were gifted to Special Collections by W.M. Timmerman in 1993. Originals are held by the Museum of the Gulf Coast.
