Biographical Note

A professor of history at the University of Arkansas since 1968 and chairman of the Department of History, 1970-76, James Staton Chase received his B. A. from the College of William and Mary, 1953; his M. A. from the University of Chicago, 1957; and his Ph. D. from the University of Chicago, 1962. He specializes in the history of American politics and is an expert on elections. Further information concerning Chase may be obtained from Who's Who in the South and Southwest for 1984-85. Chase was appointed by Governor Dale Bumpers to the Arkansas American Revolution Bicentennial Commission in 1972 and collected papers concerning that organization on national, state, and local levels. This material constitutes the present collection.
