Scope and Content Note

The collection consists of the original and a copy of travel journal of an unidentified person touring southwest Missouri (Buchanan County) and southeast Kansas in the early twentieth century; handwritten transcripts of letters (1833-1835) pertaining to the organization of Buchanan County, ratification of the Chicago treaty, and annexation of Indian land; one typewritten letter (1/21/[19]11) from J.F. Chiles to Prof. H. Samuels, Wichita, Kansas; miscellaneous notes, mostly about the origins and history of Buchanan County and Missouri, and three black and white postcards of Anderson, Missouri.
