Scope and Content Note

The letter was written on 25 pages of "canary second sheets.” A photocopy was prepared for use. In his reminiscences, Dr. McAllister describes several houses, businesses, and churches on Dickson Street and in the immediate vicinity. He also gives a detailed synopsis of his own life as a physician, his numerous residencies at medical schools throughout the country, and his service in the Army during World War II, where he served under Dwight Eisenhower in the North Africa campaign. In the course of his description of Dickson Street, he presents information about several Fayetteville families and their interconnections through marriage or occupation.
