Biographical Note

Beth Brickell was born in Brinkley, Monroe Country, Arkansas, with most sources indicating 1937/1941 as her birth year. Raised in Pine Bluff and Camden, Arkansas, Brickell attended the University of Arkansas and received a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 1958. After graduating, Brickell moved to New York to train as an actress at the Actors Studio under Sanford Meisner and Lee Strasberg. While in New York, Brickell starred in over 25 stage productions, including “Thurber Carnival”, “Room Service”, and “Take Her, She’s Mine”. After her time in New York, Brickell moved to Hollywood to star in the television series “Gentle Ben”. After two seasons of “Gentle Ben”, Brickell left but still continued to make guest appearances on multiple T.V. shows, including “Bonanza” and “Hawaii 5-0”. Brickell also had roles in motion picture films, including "Posse" and "Deadly Game". After acting, Brickell attended the American Film Institute Conservatory in Los Angeles where she received an MFA in film directing and screen writing in 1978. Brickell went on to write, produce, and direct multiple award-winning films like "A Rainy Day and Summer’s End". Brickell was also very involved in both state and national politics. Working as a field organizer for the 1988 Michael Dukakis Presidential campaign, Brickell organized and supervised volunteers in the Beverly Hills precincts. Brickell also acted as the campaign manager for Blanche Lincoln, an Arkansan that won against a 26-year incumbent and eventually became a U.S. Senator. Today, Brickell spends her time between her home in Beverly Hills and her property outside of Little Rock, Arkansas.
