Historical Note
The Union National Bank of Little Rock, Pulaski County was established on September 1, 1966. Throughout its history, the bank went through many managers, lawsuits, and even constructed a 21-story building to accommodate its growth. Many gimmicks were used to attract new accounts such as giving away a free car at random and making watermelons into piggy banks. The institution suffered from lawsuits from former executive, Harlan Lane, who accused the bank of unfairly removing him from his executive post. In 1993, the Union National Bank was eventually merged into the Worthen Banking Corporation, which in 1994 was purchased by Boatmens Bank. Boatmens Bank was later acquired by Bank of America.
