Biographical Note

Born in western Arkansas in 1908, Horace Paul Bryan worked at about a dozen different trades and professions before retiring to Greenwood, Arkansas. H.P. Bryan was a farmer, coal miner, merchant marine, social reformer, and historian. Bryan may be most notable for his letters to the editor of The Tennessean (1940-1943), and his columns "Round These Workings," (1942) and "Round These Hills," (1978), both published by the Greenwood Democrat (Sebastian County).

Horace P. Bryan, Greenwood, (Sebastian County) Arkansas, donated a collection of his papers to the Special Collections Department of the University Libraries on April 26, 1982.
