Scope and Contents
The collection consists of a scrapbook likely created by Norma Mae Bigger of Fayetteville, Arkansas; it includes photographs of Fayetteville; photos and clippings related to Bigger family members, and particularly to her brother Ed Bigger's service in World War I; and autograph pages signed by people living in Fayetteville as well as by Bigger family members and others living elsewhere. Also included is a 1914 postcard addressed to Norma Bigger.

Biographical / Historical
Norma Mae Bigger was born April 3, 1892, to George Birdwell and Willie Ann Huff Bigger in Dardanelle, Arkansas. The family moved to Farmington, Arkansas in December 1904, and then to Fayetteville around 1908. Norma Bigger worked as a nurse at a Fayetteville hospital and was an active member of the Mt. Comfort Home Demonstration Club. She passed away July 25, 1963, and is buried in Fayetteville’s Mount Comfort Cemetery.

Arrangement
Materials are primarily stored in their original scrapbook. Loose photographs and a postcard that had been stored at the back of the scrapbook have been sleeved and placed in Folder 1.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
The Norma Mae Bigger Scrapbook was donated to Special Collections by Jo Blatti, Director of the Old Independence Regional Museum of Batesville, Arkansas, on behalf of the Museum on July 31, 2007. The scrapbook, identified by the donor as having belonged to James Washington McLeod (?-1940), was found in the attic of a home McLeod had lived in in southern Sharp County and donated to the Museum.
Processing Information
Preliminary processing, including numbering of photographs, was done by Zachary Mosley in December 2007. Processing was completed and finding aid created by Katrina Windon in August 2023.
