Scope and Contents

The collection consists primarily of reports created by the Arkansas Water Resources Center with some resource material about Arkansas water issues created by other organizations. The center had three categories: Publications, Miscellaneous Publications, and Other Publications. Publications (PUB) are reports for grant awards received from or through the Arkansas Water Resources Center 1967-2001. Miscellaneous Publications (MSC) are final reports for projects affiliated or in cooperation with the Arkansas Water Resources Center from 1981-2015. Other Publications (OTH) are publications collected but not necessarily written by the Arkansas Water Resources Center.

Biographical / Historical

From UA Catalog: The Arkansas Water Resources Center, a unit of the Division of Agriculture, was established by Public Law in 1964. The Center utilizes scientific personnel and facilities of all campuses of the University of Arkansas System (and other Arkansas colleges and universities) in maintaining a water resources research program. The center supports specific research projects throughout Arkansas, which often provide research training opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, and it disseminates information on water resources via publications and conferences. The center works closely with federal, state, municipal, educational, and other public groups concerned with water resources in development of its research, training, and dissemination programs.

Arrangement

The collection retains original order from donor. Publications are housed in boxes 1-8, Miscellaneous Publications in boxes 9-17, Annual Reports in boxes 18-19, Other Publications in boxes 20-39, Maps in box 40, and Photographs in box 41.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The Arkansas Water Resources Center Records were donated to Special Collections by the Arkansas Water Resources Center through Brian Haggard, Director of the the Arkansas Water Resources Center, on February 20, 2023.
