Scope and Contents

The collection contains the personal papers of Faulkner County, Arkansas farmers Aaron and Eunice Collins. The bulk of the collection consists of family correspondence, particularly from Eunice Collins' sister, Ethel Overturf. Other correspondents include the Collins' nieces, Lois Dandridge, Mae Adkins (writing from Houston, Ark.), Virlen Bonds (writing from Perry, Ark.), and Barbara; their nephew, George Bonds (writing from Perry, Ark.); and Eunice Collins' friend Ellen Goodwin (writing from Perry and Roland, Ark.). Other materials include photographs, property and financial records, military draft and registration records, and agricultural records related to the Collins' farm.

Biographical / Historical

Aaron and Eunice Collins were Faulkner County, Arkansas farmers.

Eunice Bond was born September 14, 1900, to William and Carrie McBurnett Bond. She passed away July 6, 1988.

Aaron Collins was born April 6, 1888, in Newton County, Arkansas, to Hiram C. and Martha Jane Freeman Collins. He passed away January 9, 1979.

Eunice Bond and Aaron Collins married on May 27, 1913, in Faulkner County, Arkansas. They had one daughter, Bertha, who died as an infant in 1915. The Collinses are buried in Mayflower Cemetery in Faulkner County.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The Aaron and Eunice Collins Papers were donated to Special Collections by their great-nephew, James Barlow of Hot Springs, Arkansas, on September 9, 1991.

Processing Information

Preliminary processing, including arrangement and rehousing, was completed by Special Collections staff circa 1999. A finding aid was created and processing completed by Katrina Windon in December 2022.
