Scope and Contents

The collection contains materials, particularly related to Commonwealth College and to Mena, Arkansas, collected by Cleo Tucker. Included are correspondence, clippings, a Mena High School yearbook, and issues of the Commonwealth College Fortnightly newspaper.

A cotton sales ledger belonging to George W. Petty of Mena, Arkansas, is included, as are receipts and other business documents that had been enclosed in the ledger.

The collection also includes a selection of road maps, particularly from Arkansas and surrounding states, as well as other materials related to Arkansas.

Biographical / Historical

Cleo Theodore Tucker (1926-2002) was a longtime resident and local historian of Polk County, Arkansas, and served as president of the Polk County Historical Society in the 1980s. He was born November 22, 1926, to Fannie A. and Jessie Benjamin Tucker. He passed away August 18, 2002.
