Two bronze medallions designed and commissioned by Arkansas pathologist Andy Nettleship to commemorate the life of Arkansas writer John Gould Fletcher. On the obverse is a profile of Fletcher with the inscription "Poet"; on the reverse is a quill with the inscription "John Gould Fletcher 1886-1950" and "He bore a burden of Fire."

Biographical / Historical

Anderson (Andy) Nettleship (1910-1981) was an Arkansas pathologist. He chaired the UAMS College of Medicine Department of Pathology from 1947-1954, and served as Arkansas' first state medical examiner. He was married to Mae Banwell Nettleship (1926-2009); the couple co-founded Antaeus Lineal Medical Research Laboratories.
