Scope and Contents

The collection contains cartoons and illustrations created by Arkansas artist Dusty Higgins. The bulk of the collection consists of editorial cartoons created by Higgins for the Arkansas Traveler, the Northwest Arkansas Times, the Benton County Daily Record, and the Arkansas Times. Other materials include art boards for the comic book Pinocchio, Vampire Slayer, and miscellaneous illustrations.

Biographical / Historical

Dusty Higgins is an Arkansas-based graphic artist.

Higgins earned a B.A. from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville in 2003; while a student, he created editorial cartoons for the campus newspaper, the Arkansas Traveler. He earned an M.F.A. in Animation from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2019, and currently works as an Assistant Professor of Digital Art at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Higgins' comic book and graphic novel illustration work includes Pinocchio, Vampire Slayer and the Miles Taylor and the Golden Cape series. His editorial cartoons have been published in outlets including the Arkansas Traveler, the Northwest Arkansas Times, the Benton County Daily Record, and the Arkansas Times.

Arrangement

Materials are arranged by format and by topic. When materials were received arranged in binders or portfolios, they have been left in their original order, which is primarily chronologically by publication. Loose Northwest Arkansas Times editorial cartoons have been arranged chronologically.
