Biographical / Historical
William Bruce Center (1888-1967) was an Arkansas physician and World War I veteran.
Center was born November 5, 1888 in Thornton, Texas. He graduated from the University of Arkansas Medical Department in 1912. Center practiced medicine in Garland City, Arkansas (in partnership with Dr. James C. Cook); in Gillett, Arkansas; at the Arkansas State Sanatorium in Booneville; and at the Wildcat Mountain Branch Unit of the Arkansas Tuberculosis Sanatorium in Fort Smith. Center passed away April 27, 1967.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
The William Bruce Center Materials were donated to Special Collections by Tom Pat Cook of Crossett, Arkansas, in 2001. Cook was Center's nephew, and received the materials following the death of Center's daughter, Joyce Jones, in 2000.
