Photographs, primarily of Walnut Grove Home Demonstration Club members and events in Newton County, Arkansas, including a clean-up day at the Walnut Grove Cemetery. Collection materials are copy photographic prints and negatives made from images in a personal scrapbook created by Orphea Duty, a club member. Two photocopies of scrapbook pages illustrating the original context are also included.

Those identified in photographs include Orphea Duty, Josie Clark, Virgie Moore, Easter Willingham, Flora Villine, Blanche Scroggins, and Ella Casey.

Biographical / Historical

Orphea Lee McFerrin Duty (1898-2002) was a lifelong resident of Newton County, Arkansas. She served as the Boxley postmistress for 45 years, and was an active member of the Boxley Baptist Church and of the Walnut Grove Home Demonstration Club.
