Biographical / Historical
The office of Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs was established in 1962 by University President David Mullins to address the complexity and number of issues that needed to be handled regarding academic affairs. Since its founding, the title for this office has changed as follows: Vice President for Academic Affairs (1962-1976), Vice President and Provost (1976-1980), Vice President for Academic Affairs (1980-1982), Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (1982-2000), and Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (2000-).
