30 audio cassette tape recordings of bluegrass music, primarily of pick-up sessions at bluegrass festivals and events in Mountain View, Arkansas. The recordings were made by T. H. Ferguson. Artists featured on the recordings include Art Galbraith, Mark O’Connor, Buddy Spicher, Benny Martin, the Watermelon Mountain Jug Band, Chubby Wise, Bob Bowen, and Wayne Massengale.

Biographical / Historical

Thomas Harold (T. H.) Ferguson (1913-1982) was a regular attendee of bluegrass festivals in Mountain View, Arkansas, in the 1970s and early 1980s.

Ferguson attended Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College, and married Wanda Maurine Wolf on February 22, 1934.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The T. H. Ferguson Bluegrass Recordings were donated to Special Collections by Ferguson's granddaughter, Melanie Trujillo of Albuquerque, New Mexico, on March 23, 2021.

Processing Information

Processed by Katrina Windon; completed in April 2021. A sampling of tapes were played back during processing; however, item titles have been assigned based on existing tape labels and have not been compared to tape contents.
