Scope and Content Note

Magazines, letters, clippings, notes, memoranda, lists, bulletins, books, pamphlets, leaflets, other material relating to the history of the American "dime Novel" and to collector's interests and activities in the field. Most of the material, which is arranged in five series (see Table of contents, p. iii), is printed, and consists primarily of original or reprint issues of "dime novels," 1879 ... 1888, 1890-1915 Included are a complete file, 1896-1912, of the Tip Top Weekly (with 27 issues in reprint edition only) and a complete file, 1912-1915, of the New Tip Top Weekly.

Biographical Note

Gerald J. McIntosh was born in 1894 in Indian Territory (now Oklahoma). In 1919, he moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, where he worked for the Rock Island Railroad. McIntosh was a long-time collector of historical documents.
