Biographical / Historical
Herbert L. Thomas, Sr., was born in Crossett, Arkansas on February 14, 1899. He was educated in the public school of Crossett, and graduated from Little Rock High School. He entered business for himself immediately after graduation from high school.
In 1925, Thomas organized the Pyramid Life Insurance Company and later initiated a chain of retail stores in the southern part of Arkansas. He also has banking interests in the state.
Thomas has been a public servant in the state of Arkansas. He was a member of the University of Arkansas Board of Trustees from 1945 until 1951 and as such contributed greatly to the progress and development of the institution.
Since leaving Fayetteville, he has continued his many business and public interests while a resident of Little Rock.
