Biographical / Historical

Lessie Stringfellow Read (1886-1971) was a Fayetteville, Arkansas-based newspaper editor, and was active with the Arkansas Federation of Women's Clubs and the General Federation of Women's Clubs, among other community organizations. She was, at various times, State Chairman of Publicity for the Arkansas Federation of Women's Clubs; Arkansas editor of the General Federation of Women's Clubs' General Federation Magazine, and Publicity Chairman for the GFWC.
