Biographical Sketch

Theodore Thomas Frankenberg, newspaperman, drama critic, author and publicity agent, was born September 24, 1877 in Franklin County, Ohio, the son of Albert H. and Carrie Louise Allyn Frankenberg.

His employment with the Columbus Dispatch in 1898 and 1899 marked the beginning of a long career in association with Ohio newspapers. He was drama critic for the Columbus Citizen from 1899 to 1903, and for the Ohio State Journal from 1903 to 1907. After six months with the Toledo Times in 1908, he re-joined the staff of the Ohio State Journal and worked for that paper from 1908 to 1916, when he opened his own publicity agency in Columbus.

An occasional lecturer in journalism, Frankenberg also published three books: Essentials In Journalism (1912), The.Spectacular Career of Rev Billy Sunday 1913),and Billy Sunday, His Tabernacles and Sawdust Trails (1917).

He served at one time as president of the American Association of College News Bureaus, and was secretary of the Ohio Restaurant Association for 14 years until his resignation in 1938. In 1950 he retired from his last position with Mart and Lundy, a New York fund-raising organization.

Frankenberg died July 26, 1958 and is buried in Brownsville, Ohio.
