Scope and Content Note

Correspondence, reports, maps, leaflets, and clippings, together with archeological, geographical, and historical sketches, created, received, or collected by University of Arkansas Agricultural Extension Service Recreation Specialist George F. Metzler and used in the preparation of his Roads, Old Trails, Traces and Historical Places of Arkansas, published by the Agricultural Extension Service and the United States Department of Agriculture in 1965 and compiled with the cooperation of Dr. John L. Ferguson, State Historian.

1) Base map prepared by the Arkansas State Highway Department, Division of Planning and Research, in cooperation with the U. S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Public Roads. 24 x 22 in. (folded to 7.5 x 4.75 in.) 2) Original and photoduplicated copies of correspondence, reports, maps, leaflets, clippings, archeological, geographical, and historical sketches, received from Extension Service agents in 41 counties and from other persons, Apr. 16, 1963 to Nov. 23, 1964. Approximately 100 items.
