Letter from Private Elihu G. Martin, Company G, 29th Iowa Infantry, stationed at Helena, Arkansas, to Thomas S. Beall of Mt. Ayr, Iowa. Martin describes camp conditions, sickness among the troops, payment of the army, and the training of "contrabands" by the Union forces.
