Scope and Content Note
Twenty pieces of correspondence between Otto Bird and Ezra Pound, poet and literary critic, comprise the largest part of this collection. Pound's early correspondence with Bird chiefly concerns Bird's study of the medieval Italian poet Guido Cavalcanti. Later correspondence contains Pound's ideas on the philosophy of education as shaped by Dante, Milton, Aristotle, Confucius, and others, and his opinions of world literature in relation to the "Great Books" series.
