Scope and Content Note

Positive prints collected bу authors Reynolds and David Yancey Thomas for use in illustrating their book, History of the University of Arkansas, published in 1910. Most have manuscript notations on verso; some have manuscript notations on recto, or printed labels on recto or verso.

Twenty-one (21) of the photographs used in illustrating Reynolds and Thomas' book were not preserved in the collection, presumably having been returned to lenders or otherwise disposed of by the authors at the time of, or shortly after, publication of the book. These are listed below, with the page numbers on which they appear in the book, but are not included in the inventory of 123 photographs.

Acquisition Information

The John Hugh Reynolds Photographs Illustrating History of the University of Arkansas were donated by University of Arkansas professors John Hugh Reynolds and David Yancey Thomas circa 1910.

Separated Material

Three (3) of the photographs used in illustrating the book are recorded as having been originally included in the collection but appear to have been subsequently removed (sometime prior to 1968) and not returned. These wanting items, listed below by item number, title, and page number, have been removed from the inventory.
