Biographical Note

John B. Ogden was born in Cumberland County, New Jersey on July 3, 1812. He began his study of law at the age of 17 and moved to Van Buren, Arkansas in 1843. He was made a United States Commissioner of the District Court, Western District of Arkansas in 1856 which he held until after the Civil War. In 1866, he was appointed Assistant United States District Attorney for the Western District of the State of Arkansas, a position in which he served until 1871 or 1872.
